According to the book of 2 Corinthians 9:6-15, giving is a joyful act of worship between you and the Lord. The principles of giving spoken of here and elsewhere in scripture indicates that giving is also done in thanksgiving. Ultimately, God is the one who has given us everything and we are just giving back as an act of thanks to Him (Psalm 24:1). As a result of the character of God, He promises to bless us if we joyfully serve Him this way.
